Pa and Chester County hopefully No Job Loss Wyeth's acquisition by Pfizer Inc

Pa. isn't expected to lose jobs when Pfizer acquires Wyeth

As Wyeth's acquisition by Pfizer Inc. took one step closer to completion yesterday, state legislators spearheading efforts to retain jobs here said they were fairly confident many positions would remain at Wyeth's regional operations.
"Representatives of both Pfizer and Wyeth have continued to assure us that we should not worry and they have continued to listen to the case that we have made for as many jobs as possible remaining in Pennsylvania," said State Sen. Andy Dinniman, a Democrat who represents parts of Chester and Montgomery Counties.
Wyeth employs about 4,500 people in the region - about 3,600 in Collegeville and 900 in Great Valley and other sites. Read More...

Ignoring support order, deadbeat dad could get 6 mos. in jail

Ignoring support order, deadbeat dad could get 6 mos. in jail

A deadbeat dad pleaded guilty in federal district court yesterday to a misdemeanor count of willfully failing to pay court-ordered child support.
Carroll W. Mumford III, 49, of Newark, Del., could face up to six months in jail and be fined $5,000 at sentencing in February. He remains free on $10,000 unsecured bond.
As part of his plea, Mumford, a father of four biological children aged 13 to 18 and two adopted twins, now 23, has already paid $80,000 to Chester County Common Pleas Court's domestic-relations section. He must also fork over whatever unpaid-support obligation remains no later than five days before sentencing.
He owes $48,000, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joan Burnes said.

COATESVILLE CHESTER COUNTY MOTHER ARRESTED FOR LETTING 6 YR OLD DRIVE HER WHILE HIGH

The mother of a 6-year-old got too high to drive after she smoked "that stinky stuff" and asked her daughter to take the wheel.

The 30-year-old mother was arrested on Sunday after police noticed the child driving a Dodge Durango at South Fourth Avenue and Walnut Street.
"There were two white knuckles and a little head popping over the steering wheel," he said.

Allegedly the woman was laughing in the passenger seat when the police pulled the car over. She went on to tell the officer she was trying to teach her daughter how to drive.

"Mom made me drive because she was sleepy," the girl told police.

The police said the aunt asked the little girl if her mom had been smoking "that stinky stuff again" and she replied "yes."

The woman is being held in Chester County Prison on child endangerment, corruption of a minor and reckless endangerment charges.

Two perspectives on a one-lane bridge in Chester County

TWO PERSPECTIVES ON A ONE LANE BRIDGE CHANDLER MILL BRIDGE

The water under this Chester County bridge might not be troubled, but the debate over the deteriorating span's future is awash in conflict.
The Chandler Mill Bridge, a 99-year-old county-owned structure of stone and steel, sits next to the juncture of Chandler Mill and Bucktoe Roads in a bucolic swath of Kennett Township.

The bridge's single-lane width forces motorists to yield to oncoming traffic, a pause that invites a view of the West Branch of the Red Clay Creek as it gently laps over the rocks below.

Four hundred acres of the surrounding land, populated mainly by chirping birds and insects, have been placed under easement to prevent development, said Gwen Lacy, executive director of the Kennett Township Land Trust.

As a result, she and residents of this winding country road also want to preserve the character and tranquillity of the bridge.

More than 40 years later, the trooper's colleagues are still trying to identify the man - and hoping that technology recently made available to law enforcement might reveal new evidence.

Budget Cuts May Take Toll on Chester County Libraries Cash Crunch

CHESTER COUNTY LIBRARIES PREPARE FOR CASH CRUNCH

In 2010, they may have to wait longer to read those bestsellers they've been hungry to devour. They may find the doors locked and the lights out when they stop by, and when the library doors are open, fewer programs may be available.

Librarians and their directors do not yet know the extent of the budget cuts they soon will be asked to make, but they know cuts are almost guaranteed, given the political climate in Harrisburg.

Although local librarians say the current budget stalemate in the state capital has had no direct impact on their services so far, the head of the county library system says it is only a matter of time before the budget pinch makes its way down to the libraries in West Chester, Tredyffrin, Oxford and 16 others in their district.

Unless the budget stalemate goes on too much longer, "we are going to be functioning as usual," said John Venditta, the county library system's executive director. "Then we will be cutting back."

Final Destination Woman Survives Plane Crash Killed In Auto Accident

BIZARRE STORY FINAL DESTINATION??

Woman Who Missed Doomed Air France Flight Dies In Car Crash
Saturday, 13 June 2009
It's the kind of story that makes you wonder about the nature of fate.

Johanna Ganthaler and her husband Kurt must have been breathing more than just a sigh of relief last week. The couple had been on vacation in Brazil and they were running late. Despite their best efforts, they missed the plane that was supposed to take them back to Europe, leaving them feeling frustrated.

It was a frustration that turned to grateful amazement - the jet that took off without them was Air France Flight 447, which crashed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 228 people onboard, including a former Guelph resident.

The Ganthalers wound up taking an alternate flight back and arrived safely. They were driving home, when their vehicle veered off the road in Austria and into an oncoming truck.

Johanna, who had managed to avoid dying in the plane crash, was killed in the collision, while her husband was seriously injured.

It's not clear what caused their vehicle to lose control.

Meanwhile, the search for the black boxes continues in the depths, with the help of a nuclear submarine equipped with sonar. Time is of the essence - the pings from those data recorders will stop next month.

Forty-one bodies have now been recovered from the crash site. Authorities hope to use DNA to identify the remains.

West Chester Residents Concerned Over West Chester Area School District Radical School Board Members Chester County

I am from West Chester and care deeply about our schools and do not want to see right wing ideology replace athletics, the arts, and music. The WCASD has some very good schools and has one of the lowest tax rates in the county. We are the only school district in the county that supports three high schools. With that being said, our school district is under assault by a group of right wing extremists that care more about advancing a political agenda than they do about education. They even want to teach Intellegent Design int he classroom. None of the four right wing candidates (Adsett, Carpenter, Pimley, or Wingerter) have ties to the community. One of the candidates, Sean Carpenter, does not even have children that live in the district. His son attends public school in York County. Carpenter is also a member of the American Sheepdogs, a right wing group that has made statements comparing President Obama to Osama bin Laden and has questioned his citizenship. Its no doubt they use a racist undertone to get their message accross and their right-wing ideology is undeniable to the public. These same members often spend Saturday mornings on the courthouse lawn, marching under the banner of the Chester County Victory Movement. But you do not have to believe me that these candidates are right wingers. Just read what current school board members Jim Davison and Jim Smith had to say.

”A small group of radicals has taken control of a party I dearly love,” said Smith. “West Chester’s schools provide excellent education, and we have the lowest tax rate in the county. These qualities need to be maintained. Obviously that’s not recognized by the core of committeepeople who seem to be controlling the selection process.”
In a newsletter article Carpenter wrote he said that the GOP’s decision to endorse him and the other three for school board represented a victory for the conservative wing of the Republican Party and a defeat for its liberal wing.

“This is exactly how we want to take back the Republican Party — using superior preparation and ideas to win these battles,” Carpenter wrote. “This is how we get office holders we can support with pride, rather than ones that are an embarrassment to us all.”

Why was Smith so mad? No where in Carpenter’s newsletter article did he say what he believed the values of the party’s conservative wing to be. But he did say that all four School Board candidates (the others are Heidi Adsett, Maria Armadi-Pimley, and John Wingerter) had been “recruited and coached by Gwenne and her group, and it is only with her group’s guidance that we succeeded.”

Gwenne Alexander, of Chester County Action, a local PAC. Anyone who’s familiar with county politics knows that if you’re associated with Chester County Action, there’s a 99.9 percent chance you’re a right-wing Christian conservative. She said that while Chester County Action is particularly interested in the West Chester Area School Board race, it has not actually given its recommendation to the four endorsed Republican candidates. She also said that Carpenter wasn’t entirely accurate in saying she was responsible for fielding him and the other three who got the endorsement.
None of the endorsed candidates, except Carpenter, said that Alexander had given them any special coaching. Carpenter later said he probably shouldn’t have written that Alexander had coached the candidates. Board President Smith, however, said he was sure that Chester County Action was responsible for the endorsements. “I am disappointed with the party as a whole, and with Gwenne Alexander,” he said. “It’s a disgrace that the party doesn’t really care about the candidates it puts forward.”

Chester County Action’s website provides a nice synopsis of the battle going on within the county GOP. From the About Us” section: “We know that the endorsement of the local Republican Party is extremely powerful in Chester County. Consequently, it is important to have an organization that will recruit and train conservative, pro-life people to get involved in the political process … Our goal is to educate voters and to encourage conservatives to get involved in the political process. We are confident that when voters understand the whole story, we can prevail. Our challenge is formidable however. For over four years, a different organization has been working against the values we hold so dear. As a result, this group has targeted conservative, pro-life committee people for their seats on the local Republican Committee. Unfortunately, several conservative committee people lost their positions.”
(Taken from Daily Local Dan’s blog on www.dailylocal.com, February 2009)

Attached is the picture of Sean Carpenter supporting waterboarding (torture) and other Sheepdog members with their racist signs.

The Lovely Bones Movie Release Trailer Filmed at Locations in Chester County

THE LOVELY BONES DUE IN THEATERS DEC 11 2009
I was lucky enough to go behind the scenes and watch some of the filming of The Lovely Bones filming at the Double D Diner in Coatesville. It was amazing, it was warm out and were filming a snow scene, painted icicles, big white screen, the extras, it was exciting, movie trailers everywhere, parked at Cash high school, there were also many other scenes shot in Royersford, and North Brandywine School.
The Lovely Bones is a 2002 novel by Alice Sebold. It is the story of a teenage girl who, after being brutally raped and murdered, watches from heaven as her family and friends go on with their lives, while she herself comes to terms with her own death. The novel received a great deal of critical praise and became an instant bestseller.

Alice Sebold lived in Norristown Pa for a period of time and also attended Great Valley High School in Malvern Chester County

How Come CBS Journalists Can’t Recognize Paid Lobbyists...You Can't Even Trust The News Media Who Can You Trust

YOU CAN'T TRUST THE NEWS MEDIA IS CBS PAID TO PLAY TOO???
If you got your information from the CBS News last night, you would believe that "angry protesters" are cropping up "everywhere Democrats are trying to defend health care reform." "Conservative websites" like Freedomworks are recruiting them, based on "real fear over the increased taxes" and "government control" of the health care system.

Max Pappas from Freedomworks shows up to speak on their behalf.

Freedomworks isn't some "organic grassroots" outfit. It's run by former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey -- corporate lobbyist, global warming denier and ladie's man. The President and CEO of Freedomworks is Matt Kibbee, who was trained by Lee Atwater. Kibbe was behind the attempt to get Ralph Nader put on the ballot in Oregon in 2004, prompting a complaint to the FEC of illegal collusion with the GOP.

Steve Forbes is on the FreedomWorks board. As Paul Krugman noted, their money comes from the Koch, Scaife, Bradley, Olin nexus, as well as other reliable funders of right wing infrastructure including Exxon Mobil.

A Family Tragedy A Philadelphia Police Officer Shoots and Kills Brother

PHILADELPHIA POLICE OFFICER SHOOTS AND KILLS BROTHER

Christopher Kaullar was the golden boy of his family.

He was a family man, a Philadelphia police officer who would visit his troubled siblings in prison.

But in a flash of violence, everything changed Monday morning, when, police said, he gunned down his ex-con brother, Robert Kaullar, 47, over what relatives say was an argument that began about motorcycles.

Now a Northeast Philadelphia family is reeling over the tragedy of two sons, one who continually broke the law, the other who until this week upheld it.

Downingtown St. Anthony's Lodge Chester County Annual Frog Leg Feast

JOHNSONTOWN DOWNINGTOWN CHESTER COUNTY FROG LEG FEAST
Tonight is the 75th annual Amphibious Order of Frogs dinner at St. Anthony's Lodge in Downingtown's old Italian neighborhood. Tickets, which are long sold-out, cost $35 for unlimited Miller Lite and reminiscing, a feast of veal spezzato, roasted chicken, hot peppers, and salad, then the traditional fried legs of ranocchio.

"Are frog legs Italian?" I asked Laurie Mascherino Reutter, who is 90 and has been preparing or serving this giant family-style meal once a year for a half-century.

"No," she said, accenting her point with a jab of her paring knife, "frog legs are poor. We were poor."

Trio accused of brawl-killing head for trial | Philadelphia Daily News | 08/06/2009

Trio accused of brawl-killing head for trial Philadelphia Daily News 08/06/2009: "Three men charged last month in the beating death of a man outside Citizens Bank Park sat grim-faced during their preliminary hearing yesterday as a parade of witnesses - including a drinking buddy - identified them as the attackers.
After more than six hours of testimony, Municipal Judge Thomas Nocella held the trio for trial, each on murder and conspiracy charges. Their arraignment was set for Aug. 26.
In the meantime, Francis Kirchner, 28; Charles Bowers, 35, and James Groves, 45, remain in jail without bail. David Sale Jr., the 22-year-old Lansdale man they are accused of beating and kicking to death, was buried Monday.
Sale and three friends who were attending a bachelor party at McFadden's restaurant, which is part of the ballpark complex in South Philadelphia, began fighting with the defendants' group, about 30 people with ties to Moe's Tavern in Fishtown.
Security threw them out, but the factions brawled again in the parking lot, where the defendants pummeled Sale to death, police said.
Assistant Medical Examiner Chase Blanchard, who performed the autopsy, said Sale died of multiple blunt-force injures that caused his brain to swell and bleed.
His spine and bowels also hemorrhaged, his left ear was nearly ripped off, and lacerations were found in his spleen, liver and left kidney, among other injuries."

Woman Kills Self Self and 8 Others in Bizarre Crash New York

A Long Island mother was drunk and high on marijuana when she drove the wrong way for almost two miles on a highway before smashing head-on into an SUV, killing herself and seven others, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

The fiery July 26 crash on the Taconic Parkway killed the woman, her 2-year-old daughter, three young nieces and three men in the SUV. The woman's 5-year-old son survived. The occupants of a third vehicle sustained minor injuries.

A medical examiner found Diane Schuler's blood-alcohol level was 0.19, more than twice the state's legal limit of 0.08, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said in a statement Tuesday. The autopsy also revealed that Schuler was impaired by marijuana, DiFiore said.

Temple University Student May Be Drowning Victim in Ocean City New Jersey

Body Recovered In Ocean City N.J. possible Temple University Student

A body recovered yesterday from the water near the Ninth Street Bridge in Ocean City, N.J., might be that of a missing Temple University student, but New Jersey state police said last night they were not prepared to make a positive identification.

Josias Sterling, 19, of Philadelphia, was caught in a riptide near the Longport Bridge and was presumed drowned.

Police yesterday did not name Sterling but said the body they found was thought to be that of a man who drowned July 24. That was the date Sterling disappeared.

A formal identification is expected today, following a review of the body by the Cape May County medical examiner, authorities said.

Judge Edwin Kosik Rejects Pleas Luzerne Judges Jailing Kids For Cash Chester County Post

FEDERAL JUDGE REJECTS PLEA AGREEMENTS
In a major reversal, U.S. District Judge Edwin M. Kosik issued an order rejecting plea agreements for two former Luzerne County Court Judges accused of taking kickbacks for sending juveniles to for profit detention centers. The reasons in the order being the following regarding both Judges.

Conahan, 57, "refused to discuss the motivation" for his conduct during a pre-sentence investigation, "attempted to obstruct and impede justice" and failed to demonstrate "acceptance of responsibility" for taking kickbacks to help facilitate the development of a pair of private juvenile detention centers, U.S. District Judge Edwin M. Kosik, said.

Ciavarella, 59, "continues to deny what he terms 'quid pro quo,' " Kosik said in a five-page memorandum, despite evidence of "his routine deprivation of children's constitutional rights," by failing to inform them of their right to an attorney and sending them to the same private facilities he and Conahan had been bribed to promote.
Ciavarella has been "less obstructive" to the pre-sentencing investigation, but has resorted to "self-serving" public statements, Kosik said.

Prosecutors say Luzerne County Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan took $2.6 million in payoffs to put juvenile offenders in lockups run by PA Child Care LLC and a sister company, Western PA Child Care LLC. The judges were charged on Jan. 26 and removed from the bench by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court shortly afterward.

Cheerleading Most Dangerous Sport For Females In High School and College

CHEERLEADING MOST DANGEROUS SPORT FOR FEMALES IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE

Cheerleading is by far the most dangerous sport for females in high school and college—high school cheerleading accounted for over 65 percent of all catastrophic sports injuries in women and girls over the past 25 years, and such injuries more than doubled from 1990 through 2002 while participation grew only 18 percent.
College statistics are equally grim at just over 70 percent of catastrophic sports injuries. A study in the journal Pediatrics says the reason for such a high rate of injury can be tied to the fact that cheerleading has “evolved from a school-spirit activity into an activity demanding high levels of gymnastics skill and athleticism.”
Schools and colleges are becoming more aware of the dangers of cheerleading. In 2002 for example, the University of Nebraska banned cheerleader pyramids and gymnastic stunts following a $2.1 million award to a cheerleader who now has only limited use of her arms and legs after landing on her head while attempting a double back flip. A spokesman for the university said, “In football you have helmets and pads. Cheerleaders do their stunts on hardwood floors or turf. We consider that risk without reason.”

An update in 2008 to the record-keeping system for cheerleading injuries brought everything into focus. According to the most recent annual report of the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, between 1982 and 2007 there were 103 fatal or disabling injuries of female high school athletes, and 67 of those occurred in cheerleading. The next most dangerous sports for females were gymnastics with nine such injuries, and track with seven. The report defines any severe or fatal injury as catastrophic.

Author of the UNC Chapel Hill report Frederick Mueller said, “If these cheerleading activities are not taught by a competent coach and keep increasing in difficulty, catastrophic injuries will continue to be a part of cheerleading.”

Julie Corey, 35, of Worcester, Mass., who was arrested Wednesday at the shelter in Plymouth, N.H., appeared in Concord District Court via video from the county jail. She did not waive extradition to be brought back to Massachusetts. The judge scheduled a hearing for Aug. 30.

Chester County Sentence Guidelines Dui Vary Can Someone In The Court Clarify?

CONFLICTING SENTENCE GUIDELINES IN CHESTER COUNTY COURT OF COMMON PLEAS FOR DUI HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE

Kevin Demichiel, 19, of Lightning Lane, Lincoln University, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, DUI and other offenses in connection with an Oct. 18, 2008, crash in Elk.
Demichiel and two of his best friends, Stephen Bare and Troy Thompson, had traveled to Maryland to visit a race track. On their way back, Demichiel was driving his 1992 Ford Mustang. On Route 472 just north of State Road at 1:15 a.m., he lost control of the car around a turn and crashed into another car. Bare and Thompson died at the scene; the other vehicle’s driver was seriously injured.
Kevin Demichiel was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months, I thought the mandatory minimum was 3 years for Vehicular Homicide by vehicle while intoxicated was a minimum 3 years per fatality.

SOME RECENT EXAMPLES
Jacob Potts, 27, of Phoenixville, had been driving south on Charlestown Road shortly after midnight Feb. 2 when he failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the opposite lane, striking another car head-on. His girlfriend, 25-year-old Emily Hayes of Phoenixville, died later of injuries she suffered in the crash.Gavin said he was planning on giving Potts a longer sentence for his second DUI offense, but honored the families’ request of a minimal sentencing. Potts was sentenced to a minimum three years with no more than 10 years in prison. The time he previously spent in drug and alcohol rehab will not be deducted from upcoming prison time.

After nearly five hours of arguments and tearful testimonies from loved ones of both the defendant and victim — a rookie state trooper — a Common Pleas judge sentenced the admitted drunk driver to 8½ to 17 years in prison for taking the trooper’s life and endangering the life of her 4-year-old son.
Iwaniec, 24, died March 28 after suffering injuries in an auto crash that occurred about 10 p.m. March 27 while he was driving home after completing his shift at the Avondale state police barracks. It was Quercetti who crashed her SUV into Iwaniec’s Hyundai Alantra on Route 41 in London Grove while she was drunk and high on illegal prescription drugs with her son in the back seat, who was uninjured.

Sentencing Guidelines In Chester County DUI Homicide Cases Confuse Me

From the Daily Local News
WEST CHESTER — The grief was palpable Friday in Courtroom Eight as the youth who unintentionally killed two of his best friends in a car crash was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison.
A state trooper detected an odor of alcohol on Demichiel, and a blood test determined his blood-alcohol content was 0.044 percent, which is above the 0.02 percent legal threshold for minors. Demichiel said he had had a few beers and had been smoking marijuana earlier in the evening, although a blood test didn’t reveal marijuana or other intoxicants.
Addressing Demichiel, the judge said, “Your conduct was terrible, speeding on a public road considering the twists and turns of roads in Chester County as well as the drinking and smoking marijuana. The families are satisfied with the penalties, but I don’t necessarily agree that it is enough, but I am going to accept it. I saw the tears in your eyes, and I think they were real. Knowing that you caused the death of two of your closest friends — that must be a burden you have to bear.” Don’t all DUI victims and family members feel this way??? What makes this case different??
Now you read that, read this
In Pennsylvania, DUI offenders who are minors (18 to 21 years old) are processed like adults while offenders who are juveniles (under 18 years old) are processed through juvenile court. Penalties for juvenile offenders may differ from adult DUI offenders. Straight from the Pennsylvania Liqour Control Board, which would make this Kevin Demichiel, 19 an adult under th Pa. DUI Statutes. Is anyone confused here???

Governor Edward Rendell To Approve Funds For Certain State Workers Pa and Chester County Republicans Refuse to Lead or Negotiate

GOVERNOR RENDELL TO SEEK ‘BRIDGE’ TO PAY EMPLOYEES WHILE BUDGET TALKS CONTINUE HARRISBURG – Governor Edward G. Rendell announced today that if the General Assembly’s conference committee does not reach a budget agreement by Monday, Aug. 3, he will ask the House of Representatives to send him Senate Bill 850, which has already passed the Senate. “I intend to approve only the funds that are necessary for the operation of government services and for public safety. I will veto all other line item appropriations,” Governor Rendell said. “I do not consider Senate Bill 850 to be a budget; it is simply a bridge to allow us to pay state workers and ensure the continued efficient operation of state government -- nothing more.

“I had resisted taking this step until now because I was hopeful that the administration and the four legislative caucuses would agree soon on a budget for the 2009-10 fiscal year that began July 1. But in the past few days, communication between legislative leaders and the administration has not been able to close the significant gap. This gap is due in large part to the continued belief on the part of the Senate Republicans that they feel no responsibility to negotiate, compromise or lead,” the Governor added. “I cannot approve Senate Bill 850 in its entirety because I strongly believe that the funding levels it contains are insufficient for the core state programs of public education and health care, and the crucial economic development program that help create and retain jobs, and much more. “I remain resolute in my commitment to enact a final budget that adequately funds programs that educate and support the children of this state, and continues to protect our older and disabled citizens, but in doing so I will not allow state employees to suffer any longer. They’ve done nothing wrong. Since July 1, they have reported to work and performed their duties, and they deserve to be compensated without undue delay. They and their families should not have to undergo further financial stress. “This is by no means a solution to our budget crisis. Our public schools, hospitals, county human service agencies and many other necessary institutions will run short of funds in the next few weeks or months. This would result in the elimination or the severe reduction of services to students, the elderly, the infirm, people with mental disabilities, at-risk children, and other vulnerable residents who rely upon state government. “I call upon the General Assembly to engage in diligent, non-stop, good faith negotiations in a spirit of compromise, and a willingness to produce a budget that balances fairly the interests of all citizens of Pennsylvania,” he concluded. ### The Rendell administration is committed to creating a first-rate public education system, protecting our most vulnerable citizens and continuing economic investment to support our communities and businesses. Bachelor Party and Phillies Bus Trip Turns Into Deadly Brawl Citizens Bank Park

Bachelor party turns into deadly brawl
Lansdale man slain as Phillies fans clash outside ballpark

DAVID SALE JR. was a passionate sports enthusiast and was the proud owner of "a box truck" full of baseball cards and Pittsburgh Steelers memorabilia.

"Why don't you sell this stuff and buy a home?" Grant Lindaberry, Sale's former Lansdale neighbor, recalled asking the young man.

Sale, 22, never had a chance to heed Lindaberry's advice before his life was cut short Saturday night in a parking lot outside McFadden's restaurant at Citizens Bank Park.

Sale, who was enjoying a bachelor party at the Phillies' ballpark and then inside the eatery, was pummeled to death during a brawl with a group of men who'd chartered a bus from a Fishtown bar for the game.

He was beaten by "hands and feet," at about 7 p.m., said police spokeswoman Jill Russell. By 8:10 p.m., Sale succumbed to head injuries at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police Charge Two Men Third Sought Beating Death of David Sale Citizens Bank Park Philly

TWO MEN CHARGED THIRD SOUGHT IN BEATING DEATH OF DAVID SALE
Police today charged two men in the beating death of a 22-year-old man during a brawl Saturday night in a parking lot at Citizens Bank Park.
A third man was being sought.

Police said Charles Bowers, 35, of the 6100 block of Bustleton, and James Groves, 45, of the 800 block of East Almond Street, have been charged with murder in the death of David Sale, of Lansdale. Both were taken into custody at the parking lot Saturday night.

Investigators are seeking Francis Kirchner, 28, of the 1200 block of E. Palmer Street, who fled before police could arrest him on Saturday.

The three men were part of a bus trip to ballpark organized by a Fishtown bar, police said.

Sale was among a group of men attending a bachelor party at McFadden's pub, which is attached to the Phillies' stadium.

It's such a sad day in this World that something that starts out so innocent or fun such as a bachelor party or an outing to a game ends up with someone murdered. I do not know the reason, but to me there is no reason, there is never a reason that it should escalate to this. This is nonsense and it's got to stop. I hear it everyday, luckily the majority of the time no one dies, but this happens all the time. There is always someone at a party, outing, concert, sports event that just can't leave something alone, they have to prove something, or they refuse to ignore someone else who is mouthy, drunk, or belligerent. Walk Away, ignore it and walk away. Now one man is dead, the brother of the bride, 3 more arrested for murder, all because of something so stupid Im sure. If they would have all just walked away.

WEST CHESTER PA CHESTER COUNTY MAN CHARGED GHOST WORKER PLOT

West Chester man has been charged with running a scheme in which he allegedly bilked a New Jersey staffing firm out of more than half a million dollars, charging it for supplying workers whom he never placed at a major pharmaceutical company.
Authorities said that Peter Edward Aleszczyk, 43, aka “Peter Alex,” who was arrested yesterday by the FBI, ran KP Pharmaceutical Consulting, a company that placed permanent and temporary workers in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
According to an arrest affidavit, Aleszczyk’s company billed the unidentified staffing firm more than $560,000 from last Sept. 30 to Dec. 18, money that the staffing firm thought that Aleszczyk was using to find and pay for temporary workers for MedImmune, a Maryland pharma company.

Local Car Show Brings National Attention to greater-West Chester
AmericanMuscle.com Car Show draws more than 1,000 spectators, and $9,000+ for charity

MALVERN, PA (07/23/09)—Emerging from virtual obscurity, AmericanMuscle.com, and parent company, Xoxide, Inc., is rapidly transitioning from a small West Philly business to a nationwide force in targeted e-commerce. Marking this turn was the Small Business Administration's Young Entrepreneurs of the Year, an award that was recently bestowed upon its three founders by President Obama.

After eight years of record growth, the company's largest brand, AmericanMuscle.com, opened its doors and rolled out the red carpet on Sunday July 19 at its 65,000 square foot facility in Malvern, PA. The first-ever AmericanMuscle all-Mustang car show was a day of highlights fueled by 150 shining Mustangs and more than 1,000 smiling visitors. The day's agenda included free food, a live DJ, lots of free product, trophies for Best in Show, and one large push for the charity Homes for Our Troops.

Homes for Our Troops is a national organization that builds, buys or renovates homes for disabled veterans. Promising to donate 100 percent of all proceeds from the show, the company that started in a basement in Newtown Square presented a check for $8,015 to this worthy cause. And with a donation of $850 from the Garden State Region Mustang Club, and $500 from an anonymous AmericanMuscle supplier, the boys that worked every day after school are now at the head of a company directly responsible for donations totaling $9,365—that's progress.

The company's rapid growth in this challenging market raises questions about AmericanMuscle.com's performance in a flourishing economy. With new hires and new plans for expansion developing daily, this neighbor of West Chester will likely soon be a significant employer and benefactor for local communities.

For more information, plus lots of photos and video on the AmericanMuscle Car Show please visit: http://blog.americanmuscle.com/

Founded in 2003, AmericanMuscle.com has raced to the top of the market as a leading online Mustang parts retailer with more than 500,000 customers to date. A true innovator in e-commerce, AmericanMuscle.com employs more than 80 staff at its 65,000 square foot facility in Malvern, PA, approximately 20 miles west of Philadelphia. www.americanmuscle.com

Pa State and Chester County Assistance To Work Without Pay

STATE WORKERS COUNTY ASSISTANCE TO WORK WITHOUT PAY
The pleas were also personal, telling of individual hardships to come if paychecks stop.
Employees International Union Local 668 who work at the nearby Cumberland County Assistance Office stood at the corner of York Road and Westminster Drive to call for on-time paychecks. DAN GLEITER, The Patriot-News Dept. of Revenue employee Yvette Wright of Harrisburg wears a State Volunteer headband at the rally. “We came out today to show our distaste against our legislators who can’t pass the budget,” said Scott Shirk, of Boiling Springs, chief shopster of the Cumberland County CAO. “Later on today I’m supposed to take my daughter for an orthodontist appointment,” he said. “I’m supposed to write a check for $800.

How do you tell a 13 year-old you can’t do that?”
I have a 5 year-old and a 5-month old and they have to eat,” said Serena Owens, 25, of Carlisle. “I have to get food and formula for them from the food bank because I’m not getting any money. And I would like somebody to tell me how I’m supposed to feed them or how I’m supposed to put gas in my car, because I have to come to work and it doesn’t run off water.”
I guess you know how it feels now, like the others in the same position that come to you for help.
How do we all tell our kids we can’t do that??
Maybe the County Assistance workers are getting a dose of their own medicine, I don’t think they like the taste!

I do not want to see anyone lose their jobs, but I can tell you I have seen first hand how many who have lost health care or jobs are treated when to go to these same offices for help. There are always an exception, I am talking about the majority and what I have seen first hand.
I tried to help a friend who was diabetic, lost his job and had no insulin. Maybe they couldn’t have helped him right away, but it was the way they didn’t help and treated him. They were sarcastic, they made him wait forever, they gave him no info (I ended up buying him $103 dollars so he didn’t go into shock.) When he went in, he stood at the front desk with a line of about 10 poeple and it took forever for him to get waited on as they work as slow as possible. When they finally took us back, they treated him like some kind of low life because he lost his job, they told him that they had a right to wait 30 days for a decision and he would be hearing from them. They gave him no other info, I called Harrisburg for him and there was nothing they could do before the 30 day period. They were just horrible.
My daughter lost her job and applied for medical for her daughter as she lost her benefits. The run around they gave her was uncalled for. Sending her notices that her daughters benefits would be cut off because she didn’t submit something, when she had submitted it weeks before, lost paper work, mailing her a notice in Jan. for something that should have been mailed in June. They are just awful! They never answer the phone, ever, or return a call. The receptionist there just takes up a chair for her pay, she has one speed and its slow, I mean slow!!!
There is no excuse for the above, none at all. There are many people hurting now and were before, when you go to these places for help you should not have to deal with a nasty or lazy attitude. They are getting paid to do their job, half of them should be fired anyway, all the ones with these attitudes do not deserve a paycheck. Gov. Rendell should do a complete overhaul of these State Workers, they do not deserve a pay. In all honesty, I think the ones that go into to work and do their job right, and are thankful that they have it should work and recieve their pay, on the other hand, the ones that are just taking a chair and are miserable and lazy, they need fired asap, that would help the budget !
I guess they are seeing now how others feel when they come to them for help and they don’t like it. Oh Well, it tough times now for many, don’t like the medicine do you???

Chester County Man Uses Pornographic Video To Chase Children Away After Disputes

CHESTER COUNTY MAN USES PORNOGRAPHIC SOUNDS OF PLEASURE TO CHASE CHILDREN AWAY AFTER DISPUTES

A Phoenixville man who was apparently upset over disputes with some of the neighborhood children playing and riding bikes in front of his home. He then decided to apparently chase them away by blaring the soundtrack of a pornographic movie into their area of play.
A preliminary hearing for Michael W. Buck, 27, resulted in an agreement that means the most serious charge against him - corruption of minors - will be dropped if he meets a series of conditions within 90 days.
He must take an anger-management course, receive a mental-health evaluation, perform 20 hours of community service, avoid any criminal contact with neighborhood children, pay a $300 fine, and write a letter of apology to the affected families. read more http://www.philly.com/
